St Columba’s is an all girls primary school under the patronage of the Archdiocese of Dublin. The school was established by the Holy Faith Sisters in 1925. A huge debt of gratitude is owed to the sisters who played a pivotal role in the education of thousands of pupils from Iona parish and the surrounding areas. There is a long and proud tradition of education here in St Columba’s. For some of our pupils, they are the third generation of their family to attend this school.
Over the years there have been many changes. Inkwells, blotting paper, “deilbhíní”, drill displays, blackboards and chalk with clouds of dust rising from the “glantóir” are things of the past. However, the essence of the school remains the same. The catholic ethos, the high standard of education, the commitment of the staff, the loyal support of the parents, board of management and the enthusiasm of the pupils are still evident today.
As a staff we aim to provide a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment for our pupils and we welcome families of all nationalities and religious beliefs.
